The What, Why, and How of Practicing Love: Show Notes
I’m excited to announce that the podcast has officially launched! Episode 1 of Practicing Love: Have the Best Love and Sex of Your Life is now available.
Love isn’t easy, and neither are dates or relationships. And we face more challenges as we get older. But we can turn these challenges into powerful and connected experiences of intimacy, freedom and love.
In the beginning of my current relationship, my partner and I both had physical challenges that made it difficult to be intimate. While it wasn’t always easy, we each showed up with patience, acceptance, and curiosity about what was possible. I know we built deeper intimacy faster than we would have otherwise, and that’s been a solid foundation we’ve built on ever since.
This first episode is about WHAT practicing love is, and WHY and HOW to practice. With love as a practice, you don’t have to give up great love or sex when you’re struggling with your body, emotions or life situations. You can get creative and collaborative, and even create the best love and sex of your life as a result.
In this episode, I talk about what creates great sex, and what does not. I also talk about…
- How each person in a relationship can be a loving reflector for the other’s growth
- Why blame and shame kills connection, and vulnerable honesty fosters it
- How practicing love allows you to receive the love and support you desire
- The benefits of prioritizing understanding over needing to be right
- How to connect through your wounds, rather than think you have to get over them.
In future episodes, I bring in guests who vulnerably reveal their struggles, and what they’ve learned to create a thriving love and sex life. In each episode it’s clear that this isn’t about overcoming struggles, but practicing with them. The guests are not perfect, nor do you have to be, to have the love and sex you want! It gets easier when you know you’re not alone, and when you start to see each situation — even hurts, upsets and awkwardness — as a doorway to love and intimacy.
Let me know if you have questions, aha’s, or if there are specific challenges you’d love to hear about.
