Too many women don’t get to see what’s behind the masks and facades men are encouraged to wear. This creates separation, distrust, hurt, and disappointment, on all sides.
If you’re not satisfied with your love or sex-life, and could use some insights into what makes women want more of you, tell me more about yourself here and we’ll schedule a time to talk: shanajamescoaching.com/consult

I have had the privilege of seeing the best in men for more than two decades. I am honored to be a woman men can bring their vulnerabilities, fears, insecurities, and worries to, as well as their desires, hopes, and dreams.
Having conversations with other women who love and support men feels healing and inspiring to me. It creates possibility for forward movement and collaboration, rather than stuckness and hopelessness.
Today’s Man Alive podcast guest is psychologist Erica Liebman. Before becoming a psychologist, Erica worked in the auto industry. She has often felt comfortable with men, and in both places has found that men are willing to talk and open up with her. She has valued men’s capacity for problem solving and ingenuity. She is a founding member of the Men and Boys Compassion Initiative, and is committed to breaking down stereotypes and moving beyond hurtful, dismissive views of men.
As two women who care about men, we discussed…
- Unconscious socialization
- The skills it takes to communicate and have another person feel understood and supported
- Why women say things like “I hate men” when relationships are hard
- Whether women are actually more emotionally intelligent or just more emotional
- What it would take for women to have compassion for men
- Understanding our own hot buttons and triggers
- Masculine expression scripts
- The controversial nature of supporting men
Erica is a powerful woman who cares about and supports men. This is a conversation you can listen to on your own, but I’d also suggest listening together, if you’re in a relationship with a woman. When you’re done with this one, check out this episode with another amazing woman on how to ask for and get what you want.
Keep an eye out for Episode 300 in a couple weeks. It highlights men who are having an incredible impact in the field of men’s work, and is a culmination of seven years of Man Alive episodes!

Bio:
Erica has years of experience working with individuals and couples from age 18 to 70. Throughout my career, she has worked in a variety settings including college counseling, inpatient and outpatient drug and alcohol facilities, and leadership consulting. Collaborating with other care providers is important to her, including medication providers. During her time in the field, she has built a network of professionals whom she trusts and am happy to offer referrals to my patients.
When she is not engaged in helping others through their journey of self growth, she is often working on her own in various ways including meditation, reading, playing tennis, keeping her plants alive, and exploring new restaurants and bakeries in Philadelphia.
