It is common to set goals for oneself and then feel serious
disappointment if you don’t accomplish them. This can leave you in a cycle of feeling defeated or hesitant to try again. Today’s Man Alive podcast guest, host of the podcast “Tiny Leaps, Big Changes”, created a goal setting system that combines effectiveness with self-empathy!

I hope you’re staying safe!
With the fires and smoke here in California, on top of the pandemic and homeschooling my kid, I may be nearing my limit of what I can handle. However, we are making it work as best we can and discussing how we are building resilience and strength in this wild time.
It’s also been a great time to take a deeper look at what is most important to me, and what I really want in my career, relationship and living situation. In the process of discovery I’ve set some new goals for myself. I’ve also realized that setting goals sometimes makes me nervous because I haven’t always accomplished what I’ve set out to do!
On today’s Man Alive Podcast I wanted to bring you an expert who talks about goal setting that actually works. It seems especially important in this time of chaos and challenge! It’s one thing to set goals in “normal” times. It’s another to set goals in times when the ground seems hard to find.
Gregg Clunis, author and host of the wildly popular Tiny Leaps, Big Changes Podcast, joined me to discuss his goal setting framework that allows you to be more effective and includes self-empathy, rather than beating yourself up!
In this conversation we discussed…
- Gregg’s LEAP framework for powerful goal setting
- What many people do that creates defeat with their goals
- How including empathy for yourself allows you to be more effective and happier
- How to be simultaneously data driven and have a healthy mindset
- Gregg’s personal experience with his weight loss goals
I remember a coach friend of mine, Rich Livin, saying that he helps people dream bigger than they ever have and take smaller steps than they ever imagined they would.
Sometimes accomplishing goals takes finding the right system, expanding to have a longer-term view or having more clarity about why you want what you want! Whatever your goals, I believe they are possible for you!
