Show notes
As I wrote Honest Sex, I spent a lot of time thinking about my own and client’s struggles and breakthroughs. I saw again and again how important honesty is for relationships to thrive.
At times we know what we’d say if we were being honest, but then something gets in the way.
When we get to the heart of it, it’s often about the fear of losing someone or something important to you.
Or the fear that we’ll cause discomfort or unresolvable conflict in our relationships.
But if we aren’t honest, we end up dissatisfied and less alive and inspired by life.
Do you hold back your truth? IF so, why?
I know this one too well. I’ve sat on my truth, avoided conversations and tried to sugar coat my desires or disappointments. Instead of just telling it straight!
It costs us a lot when we do this.
We end up twisting into or hiding behind protective strategies, trying to cover up what we haven’t said or build a case for what we have.
Holding back truth is draining and eventually backfires.
Dr. Susan Campbell has written many books and facilitated thousands of people through this tender territory. She is a woman I deeply respect and is a master of truth telling in a way that creates MORE connection and ultimately helps you not lose yourself!
